At Willful, we simplify the process of creating your will by guiding you through a structured questionnaire. Here’s how we break down the process into clear sections:
1. About You
In this section, we gather essential demographic information tailored to the laws applicable to your situation.
2. Your Family
Covering marital status, children (and guardianship if applicable), and even considerations for your beloved pets.
3. Your Estate
We guide you through decisions regarding beneficiaries, gifts, donations, and age milestones for inheritance.
4. Your Arrangements
Here, you appoint executors, specify funeral and burial wishes, and designate powers of attorney (available in premium plans).
Once you’ve completed your Willful account and reviewed everything, follow these steps:
- Navigate to your documents page to download your will.
- Print out the documents and follow the provided instructions for signing and witnessing. (Note: Digital execution is legal in BC.)
Our team of legal advisors regularly reviews and updates the templated clauses used in our documents. However, please remember:
- Willful is not a law firm and cannot provide legal advice.
- Seek legal counsel if you require custom clauses, have a blended family, a child with special needs requiring a Henson trust, own a business needing a dual will, have assets outside Canada requiring a secondary will, wish to disinherit someone, or anticipate legal claims against your will.
